Dominican Republic and Mexico
Ernesto Selman holds a degree in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and a Master’s in Economic Policy Management from Columbia University in the City of New York. He conducted postgraduate studies in finance at Georgetown University and in project evaluation at the Harvard Institute for International Development (HIID).
Mr. Selman has worked as a consultant at the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) (1995-1996), as Alternate Executive Director for the Dominican Republic and Mexico at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) (1996-2000). In his country, he served as Economic Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic from 2004 to 2008. Furthermore, he has worked as an executive in the private sector in the Dominican Republic in the fields of telecommunications, agriculture, finance, and tourism. Mr. Selman has taught at the major private universities in the Dominican Republic and lectured in various countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has published a number of articles and essays in media outlets throughout the region.
Mr. Selman served as Executive Vice President and Founder of the Regional Center for Sustainable Economic Strategies (CREES), the leading economic thinktank in the Dominican Republic, where he has developed public policy and structural reform proposals for his country and Central America. In addition, he served on the Investment Committee of the Siembra Pension Fund Administrator and as Vice President of the Board of Directors of RDVAL, price provider for the Dominican Republic’s securities exchange.
