Jeffrey Baker is a 24-year U.S. Treasury Department veteran currently serving as the Acting U.S. Executive Director at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). Before joining the IDB Board, Jeffrey was the Director of Treasury’s Office of Development Results and Accountability where he oversaw the review of roughly 1,600 projects per year at the IADB, the World Bank and the other regional development banks. He also led the development of U.S. positions on MDB policies involving environmental and social risk mitigation, access to information and the independent accountability mechanisms.
In prior assignments, Jeffrey served as the Treasury Representative to Southeast Asia, based in Singapore (2020-2023), the Director of the Office of Investment, Energy and Infrastructure (2018-2020), the Senior Advisor to the U.S. Executive Director at the World Bank (2014-2018) and the Director of the Office of Europe and Eurasia (2009-2014).
Originally from Roanoke, Virginia, Jeffrey holds bachelor’s degrees in biology and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and a graduate degree in Pacific International Affairs from the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California, San Diego.
