The overarching goal of the institutional strategy is to promote sustainable growth and reduce poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean through work in six priority areas:

Reduce poverty, enable inclusive access to basic services and infrastructure and promote the general well-being of society.

Spur economic growth, improve the region's productivity, competitiveness and human capital, and promote innovation.

Strengthen dialogue and cooperation between countries and support the region and its businesses on the world stage.

Ensure that disadvantaged or marginalized populations have equal opportunities for growth and social mobility.

Foster environmental sustainability, promote the region's biodiversity and strengthen climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Reinforce the capacity of institutions to guarantee access to quality public services, improve the regulatory environment, promote confidence in the rule of law and its enforcement.
The current institutional strategy, approved by our Board of Governors covers the 2020-2023 period. The strategy acts as a guiding compass that orients the work of the IDB Group.

We use our Corporate Results Framework (CRF) to monitor progress on the institutional strategy.

The Institutional Strategy is tailored to local contexts through our Country Strategies, which are developed in coordination with each of our borrowing member countries.
