The Country Office of Colombia supports the policy areas that contribute to achieving the long-term vision of transforming Colombia into a high-income country with social mobility, aligned with the current National Development Plan (PND), which prioritizes institution-strengthening, inclusive economic growth based on higher productivity, and poverty reduction and social development.

Overview

 

Colombia is one of the founding member countries of the IDB. Like all the shareholders, Colombia appoints a Governor, who represents the country on the Board of Governors.

For day-to-day business at the Bank's Headquarters in Washington, D.C., Colombia is represented by a chair on the Board of Executive Directors. The chair, shared with Peru, is headed by an Executive Director, who is elected to a three-year term by the Governors of Colombia and Peru.

The Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group) Country Strategy with Colombia 2024–2027 promotes sustainable economic growth through high-impact interventions focused on: (i) social and territorial inclusion, (ii) growth and productivity, and (iii) fiscal execution and public sector management.

Resilient development, biodiversity protection, and natural capital preservation are integrated across all areas of action. The strategy aligns with Colombia’s 2022–2026 National Development Plan, long-term development policies, IDBStrategy+, and A New Vision for Country Strategies.

Through this framework, the IDB Group reaffirms its commitment to supporting Colombia’s sustainable growth and institutional strengthening.
