The vision benefit covers vision care services, including exams, lenses, and frames, in the U.S. and other countries. When using this benefit in the U.S. or Puerto Rico, you will receive discounted rates when you go to a VSP in-network provider, Cigna Healthcare’s partner.
Cigna Healthcare is your plan administrator for medical, dental and vision services. Below you will find relevant information about your plan.
The myCigna mobile app allows you to:
- Submit claims and see completed claims
- See what is covered under your plan
- Locate health providers near you or find online providers
To access vision coverage on the mobile app, go to “coverages” on the main page, choose “vision” and follow the link to “Visit Cigna Vision”. Then use the dropdown in the upper left to view the available vision care providers, claims, etc. Download the app on your phone or tablet to ease access to services: Apple iOS / Google Android
- For U.S. providers, please explore the myCigna App or my.cigna.com
- Outside the U.S., all providers are considered in-network for International Plan members. To receive vision care, you will be required to pay for the services received and then file a claim for reimbursement. Please request an itemized bill or detailed receipt from the provider before you file a claim.
In-network providers in the U.S. will apply your benefits towards your purchase and you will not need to file a claim form.
Out-of-Network in the U.S.
If you go out-of-network in the U.S., there are three ways to submit your reimbursement claims to Cigna Healthcare: online using myCigna is preferred (from the main vision menu, choose “Claims” and then “Out-of-network claim form”) or through email ([email protected]) or postal mail. This is the Vision Claim Form that must be filled out and sent with emailed or mailed claims.
To help the claim and reimbursement process go smoothly:
- When you pay for your procedure at a U.S. out-of-network provider, always be sure ask for a “Superbill” as your receipt for payment. This document typically contains the detailed provider information necessary for Cigna Healthcare to process your claim. When a “Superbill” is not available, be sure to get an invoice/receipt that shows the details listed below.
- Be sure to keep copies of your itemized bills, detailed receipts, and other claim-supporting documents in case they are needed for verification purposes.
- Vision claims must be submitted within 365 days of the date of service.
