How to improve transparency in the use of public resources and mitigate the risk of corruption?
With the use of digital tools and access to information, we seek to provide a 360° view of the use of public resources. This including information about budget planning and execution, public investment initiatives, and public procurement, while fostering citizen participation.
It promotes data integrity and an incremental vision to give traceability to resources:
Association between planning and the national budget in its different phases.
Georeferenced visualization of investment projects and technical sheets.
Openness of contracting processes and contractors.
Citizens can post comments, upload photos of projects, and request information.
Monitor in real time where and how governments spend public funds.
Obtain quality information to make decisions that improve the efficiency of public investments.
Improve competitiveness by operating in an open information environment.
Create newsworthy stories using open data.
The platform design, development and implementation process include the following steps:

The Red Flags System is a technological solution developed by the IDB to detect potential irregularities in public procurement through the application of machine learning and rule-based algorithms.
InvestmentMap promotes transparency and accountability in the mainstreaming of public policies:
- Labeling of budget and public investments aimed at reducing gender and diversity gaps
- Identifying climate resilient infrastructure and its impact on sustainable development.
- Strengthening institutional capacity at the national and subnational levels by building internal information systems to improve public investment management.
- Digitization of internal processes through direct connection to existing systems and databases to ensure quality and automatic updating of information.
Journalists and civil society representatives are trained and certified in the use of the open data included in all InvestmentMap platforms.
The focus is on extracting, transforming, cleaning, and processing data to enable these key audiences to create data-driven stories.
