What is the Amazon Bioeconomy Fund?
The Amazon Bioeconomy Fund is a regional Program from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and implemented by the IDB, which aims to reduce GHG-emissions and increase the resilience of targeted value chains and ecosystems in Amazonia by enabling the conditions to increase the flow of funds to bioeconomy. The Program focuses on addressing some of the most critical barriers specifically faced by bio-businesses to encourage private investment.
The US$598 million Fund includes a diversity of sectors in bioeconomy and applies a range of effective and flexible financial instruments to tackle different risk profiles in participating countries.
