The 2021 edition of PPP Americas was held in São Paulo, Brazil, with official support from the Government of the State of São Paulo and institutional backing from the European Union and the Brazilian Government. The event took place at the prestigious Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
Amid urgent infrastructure investment and development needs, the 2021 event underscored the critical importance of public-private sector collaboration in planning, constructing, and operating projects. PPP Americas 2021 aimed to explore comprehensive solutions across various sectors.
For the first time, the event was fully broadcast remotely via an exclusive virtual platform, marking its debut as a hybrid edition. This format demonstrated the event's broad reach across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
Despite the challenges of the pandemic, 1,719 participants engaged through the virtual platform, while 111 attendees participated on-site, adhering to all health protocols.
PPP Americas 2021 Discussion Papers are key resources developed for the tenth edition of PPP Americas. These papers were created by eight thematic groups, consisting of experts, professionals, consultants, and academics involved in PPP infrastructure projects across the region.
Under the coordination of IDB experts, these groups explored current issues in economic and social infrastructure partnerships. They focused on sharing experiences, discussing success stories, and learning from challenges.
The document titled "The Day After" summarizes the main conclusions and recommendations from these discussions. It aims to foster knowledge exchange on infrastructure and PPPs in Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighting best practices in PPP contract termination and its impact on project viability.
