The Inter-American Development Bank (“IDB” or “IADB”), rated Aaa/AAA (Moody’s/S&P) priced a USD 50 million, 15-year fixed-rate Sustainable Development Bond (“SDB”), to support IDB’s strategic priorities to reduce poverty and inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Fukoku Mutual Life Insurance Company is the sole investor of the bond, and this transaction represents the IDB’s first SDB private placement in 2021. With this bond, IDB raises awareness for the Sustainable Development Goals, including projects promoting climate resilience of forests in areas critical to the water supply.
