The Sector Framework Document guides the work carried out by the IDB Group with the countries and governments of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in the transportation sector. This document considers transportation as a system in which, in addition to infrastructure, the services, institutions, and technology are key components of its performance. The document seeks to enhance the role of the transportation system as a catalyst for competitiveness, and inclusive and sustainable growth in the region. The objective of the Bank's work in the region will be to contribute to achieving efficient, inclusive, and sustainable transportation systems, addressing key areas of action such as: access to quality transportation services, seeking to improve the funding and financing for the sector, the improvement of logistics for competitiveness and regional integration, the sustainability of the transport system, its digital transformation, and the improvement of its institutional framework.
