IDB’s Laboratory of Digital Social Security explores cost-effective solutions to increase the access and coverage of social security for the millions of independent workers in Latin America and the Caribbean. We help optimize and adapt the tools of existing social security systems, and come up with new, innovative insurance products. Through behavioral economics, innovation and digital platforms our laboratory produces public policy recommendations within challenging regulatory and legal landscapes to extend social security to workers outside of traditional employment dynamics.
