We seek to fully mainstream environment and natural resources management across all economic sectors to ensure a sound sustainable development for Latin America and the Caribbean. By assisting member countries to prioritize and address the most critical local, regional, and global environmental threats, we work to provide guidance, enhance regional coordination, and scale up financing to sustain and protect the exceptional natural wealth of this region.
1 - Improving natural resources management through: (i) Supporting environmental pollution prevention and control; (ii) Promoting sustainable use of land, marine, and coastal resources, including responsible changes in land cover; (iii) Strengthening and advancing natural resources management policy and governance.
2 - Integrating natural resources management across economic sectors, with highlights in the following thematic areas: (i) biodiversity and ecosystem protection; (ii) agriculture and food security; (iii) blue economy (ocean and coastal protection); (iv) climate change adaptation and mitigation; (v) public health and well-being.
3 - Pioneering the integration of rich environmental data into the environmental-economic accounting of countries.
