What is the Amazonia Clean Energy Access Accelerator?

 

The objective of the Accelerator is to support eligible Amazonian countries in diversifying sources of clean energy, focusing on universal access to clean energy, the decarbonization of electricity systems, clean cooking, and the expansion of emerging clean technologies and solutions in their Amazonian regions. Additionally, the Accelerator recognizes the financial needs in other crucial areas, such as sustainable transportation and emerging clean technologies and solutions, which it also seeks to support.

This initiative is supported by multiple partners, including the Climate Investment Fund (CIF), which has provided US$210 million in reimbursable resources and US$5 million in non-reimbursable funds for technical assistance, and a US$25 million grant from the Global Energy Partnership for People and Planet (GEAPP) to help close electricity access gaps in LAC.

IDB Approves Financing for Banco do Brasil to Support Bioeconomy and Sustainable Infrastructure in the Amazon

WASHINGTON - The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a $250 million financing package to support the BB Amazônia Program, a joint initiative with Banco do Brasil (BB) aimed at promoting bioeconomy businesses and expanding sustainable infrastructure in the Brazilian Legal Amazon.
