Executive Secretary of the Staff Retirement Plans

 

Luciana Barbosa, a citizen of Brazil, was appointed Executive Secretary of the Staff Retirement Plans on November 1, 2023. In her role, Ms. Barbosa is responsible for the administration of the Pension Plans, overseeing the payment of benefits, managing the investment of assets, carrying-out the day-to-day administration of the Plans, and performing other functions that are contemplated in the Plans’ regulations and/or delegated by the Managing or Pension Committees.

Prior to her role as Executive Secretary of the Plans, Ms. Barbosa served as IDB Chief of Accounting since 2016.  Before joining the Bank, she was an Assurance Partner at EY Brazil where she worked for 5 years.  Prior to that, she spent 15 years at Deloitte as an auditor, working for large companies in Brazil, the United States, and Denmark.

Ms. Barbosa holds a Master’s degree in International Business and Policy from Georgetown University, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in Brazil, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
