Executive Auditor

 

Mr. Alan Kato, a Brazilian citizen, was appointed Executive Auditor of the IDB Group on August 16, 2022. As Executive Auditor, Mr. Kato reports to the President of the IDB and the Audit Committee of the Executive Board. The Office of the Executive Auditor (AUG) conducts periodic, independent, and objective reviews and audits of financial, accounting, operational, administrative, and other activities, including the identification of opportunities to improve efficiency and economy of operations, as well as the appropriate use of resources. 

Prior to his role as Executive Auditor, Mr. Kato worked for over 22 years for the firm Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) in various positions, including Audit Partner in Lima, Peru; Senior Audit Manager in Maputo, Mozambique; Audit Manager in Lisbon, Portugal, and Audit Senior in São Paulo, Brazil. 

During his time in Peru, Mr. Kato also took on responsibilities as Transformation Leader for the audit process in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela, and as a partner in methodology, technical consulting, and quality. He participated in several internal quality control reviews (compliance reviews) in Chile, Colombia, Brazil, and Portugal, the latter as the leader of the review team. 

Mr. Kato holds a master’s degree in Corporate Finance from the Universidad del Pacífico, Peru, and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
