Small developing island states (SDIS) are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. For this reason, some island states of the Caribbean region such as Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados can serve as laboratories where different adaptation measures to meet the challenges of climate change can be tested, assessing their cost-effectiveness.

I have been away from this blog for a while, and I was waiting for the right story to write again. This one in particular has a bit of remembrance. I lost my mother to cancer nearly a decade ago. Like most children, I frequently didn’t pay attention to many of the things she used to say to me (I realize this now that I am a parent of two teenager daughters!).

Climate change is something that will impact all of us in some way or another. Moreover, this environmental problem is cumulative by nature, which means that even if we cut all emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) today, we will still continue to feel its negative effects for a long time. Since the industrial revolution, human activities have led to the accumulation of large quantities of these gases in both the atmosphere and the oceans.
