The study that will be undertaken is a pre-feasibility study, whose general objective is to analyze the technical and economical viability of several hydrological works, including irrigation as well as hydro-electrical generators that are linked to the use of the water resources of the Puyango-Tumbes River, in Ecuador and Perú. The specific objectives of this study are the following: (i) analyze and reformulate, if necessary, the works corresponding to the water dams of Cazaderos y Marcabeli; (ii) explore the possibility to develop alternatives projects using the waters from the Puyango-Tumbes River and which would supply totally or partially for the irrigation demand, and (iii) evaluate the different works from a technical and economic viability standpoint in order to maximize the water resources of the Puyango-Tumbes River. As a result of this pre-feasibility study, several work projects will be identified compatible with the economic and financial capacity of the respective countries.
