Unit-Smes Competitiveness Iso Standard
The overall objective of this Program is to increase competitiveness and achieve measurable improvements in all aspects of business performance among small and medium enterprises in Uruguay. The purpose of the Program is to raise awareness of the importance of ISO systems and to facilitate SMEs access to resources to implement ISO systems. The Project is divided into two Sub-programs that will be executed by UNIT and UEU, respectively. The first Sub- program has the following three components: (i) Enhancing awareness of the importance of international standards targeted at SMES; (ii) Development of a local supply of experts in quality, envirorunental management and occupational safety and health standards; and (iii) Strengthening of national standards organization. The second Sub-program is designed to facilitate the implementation of ISO systems in 200 firms. This subprogram has three components: Matching grants for SMEs in management system standards; (ii) Marketing and promotion of the matching grants; and (iii) Development of an information management system.
