Training Workshops on Social Impact of Regional Integration
The project will fund and organize two workshops under the title "Policy Alternatives to Improve the Social Impact of Trade and Integration". Each one-week workshop will bring together 20 medium and high level government officials from institutions responsible for trade and social policies in the region. In order to provide a common ground for policy relevant discussions, each workshop will seek an appropriate representation of government officials from the various sub-regions: Mexico and Central America, the Andean Countries and South America. Workshops will take place at the IDB headquarters in Washington, D.C. An ad hoc committee integrated by staff from INT, INTAL and INDES, in consultation with regional departments will decide on the selection of participants. Dates for the two workshops will be decided by this Committte, trying to benefit from the attention that other events in the region may draw on these issues (i.e. Ministerial Meetings for Mercosur, etc.). INDES will assume the academic coordination of workshops and logistical arrangements.
