Renewable Energy, Regional Integration and GHG Mitigation
The general purpose of the proposed operation is to increase the potential for expanding cost-effective and developmentally beneficial RE generation in Mesoamerica. The more specific purposes are: (a) to identify lessons learned from past experience in order to highlight barriers to potential increases in RE investment throughout the focus area, with an eye toward distinguishing economic and financial barriers from technical and institutional barriers; (b) to use these lessons learned to identify the potential for economically efficient and financially sustainable means for lowering key barriers; and (c) to support efforts already underway in the region to stimulate transversal interest and activity in reaping developmental and environmental benefits of cost-effective RE investments.
