Identifying challenges for the advancement of AI in the public sector

The general objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to generate knowledge on the main barriers limiting the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the public sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as to identify effective mechanisms to overcome them. To this end, the TC will: (i) conduct applied research to identify the main institutional, organizational, and technical barriers that hinder AI adoption in the public sector, as well as the conditions that enable its effective implementation; (ii) strengthen the capacities of public officials through the development of learning materials based on the research findings; and (iii) support the design of national data policy models and national AI strategies by developing reference models and evidence-based practical recommendations that can be adapted by countries with different levels of digital maturity.
