RG-T4175 : Promote marine renewable energy, and shipping and port services decarbonization in the Caribbean.

Project Status: Implementation

The general objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to assist Caribbean countries assess the potential for marine renewable energy (MRE) - offshore wind - and identify alternative low carbon pathways to decarbonize maritime transportation and port energy services. The specific objectives are to: (i) assess technical, institutional and regulatory dimensions, business models, environmental and social challenges and mitigation measures for MRE development with a focus on but not limited to off-shore wind power and low-carbon shipping and port energy services; and (ii) support capacity building to develop local human capital to embrace and implement such initiatives.
