RG-T2223 : Strengthening Competition Policy and Legislation in Latin America

Project Status: Closed

The objective of this program is to contribute to the strengthening of competition policy in Latin America and the Caribbean through the IDB Latin American Competition Forum / Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Latin American Competition. The Bank, through a strategic alliance with the OECD, has been promoting the development of competition law and policy throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. This support has focused on the execution of an annual forum with all the competition authorities of the hemisphere, and also with the participation of Spain and Portugal. The Forum is not only an opportunity to share experiences and administrative law, but also the setting for peer review and discuss the scholarship on each of the areas of economics and competition law. In 2012, to mark the tenth anniversary of the Forum, aims to bring an update on the 9 tests performed to date.
