RG-T2058 : Smart Grid and Its Application in Sustainable Cities
Project Status: Closed
1. Disseminate information on the state of the art technologies related with the smart grid system across the LAC through the case study of the smart grid test bed located in the Jeju island, Korea. 2. Enhance the institutional capabilities of the policymakers and private clients of the IDB in order to facilitate the adoption of the smart grid system in LAC and the necessary change in the regulatory framework including policy of real-time pricing for electricity. 3. Create sustainable energy module that could fit into the emerging and sustainable energy cities. It is very important to introduce the smart grid system in the early stage of urban development, because it is relatively easier to make infrastructure investment in smart metering devices, smart electric grid, electric car charging stations that could be options for smart grid in the earlier stage. 4. Develop investment loan projects related with smart grid. This KCP does not finance the implementation but will provide good starting point to prepare investment loans that are executed by the IDB.
