Micro franchising for the Base of the Pyramid: Increasing access to affordable r

The KCP will serve to test the hub and spoke model in El Salvador to empower VisionSpring with a fully self-sustaining, more widely-applicable model (in two El Salvador sites), as well as launch a second pilot for the implementation of a sustainable vision program in partnership with a local network, using the business model that best fits the network. These pilots would result in two sustainable vision programs, including one with partner organizations working in the region, with the potential to empower between 50 and 100 Vision Entrepreneurs to provide between 4,000 and 8,000 pairs of glasses. Most importantly, it will lay the foundation for VisionSpring to scale sustainable vision programs, providing both reading and distance glasses, throughout Latin America where they are needed most.
