Climate Change Modeling for Latin America and the Caribbean
The Climate Change Modeling for Latin America and the Caribbean program (the "Program") aims to support the development of a science and technology transfer program between LAC scientific community and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) , to build or strengthen existing capacity for the generation, analysis, visualization and integration of climate, climate variability and climate change data. Specifically, the proposed program will contribute to: (i) develop technical skills within the region to assess and work with climate data from advanced regional/global climate-system coupled models, (ii) generate strategic knowledge products in the areas of current and future climate that could be used in vulnerability and adaptation capacity assessments, (iii) integrate knowledge and information across disciplines and from different sources aimed at building a dialogue framework with public-and private-sector decision makers, (iv) establish paths of communication and knowledge transfer among the scientific community in LAC, and (v) strengthen local institutions ability to integrate latest available modeling tools for practical applications in the area of climate change.
