Support to the Implementation of Educational Policies

The overall objective of the TC project is to support the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) of Guatemala in the formulation and implementation of policies and programs in areas that are strategic to improve educational quality. The TC will contribute, through the technical dialogue, studies and proposals, to generate knowledge, provide experiences and provide tools that contribute to the following specific objectives associated with PEE 2016-2020: (i) analysis of the transition between cycles (preschool / Primary, primary / secondary) and the causes of repetition in the first grades; (Ii) support to MINEDUC in the change in the education system to establish admission to primary school since the age of 6; (Iii) the preparation of a proposal for actions, which could be financed by the Bank through project GU-L1087, in order to have data on student learning through participation in international tests and the application Of national tests, as well as the performance of teachers in the classroom, thus providing relevant information for the updating of initial and in-service teacher training programs; (Iv) strengthening the capacity of MINEDUC to manage school infrastructure, including methodological bases for a Census of School Infrastructure, development of information systems and improvement of technical teams; And (v) systematization and dissemination of results
