Implementation of Program of Good Agricultural Practices
The end of the project is to improve the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Ecuador, improving living conditions and working families who depend directly on the planting, cultivation and marketing of mangoes for export.
The specific objectives of the project are: (i) Increase Ecuadorian mango exports to the markets of USA And the EU through the implementation of a program of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) which allows standardize the quality of the fruit; (ii) Strengthening the chain of productive agricultural sector through the training of managers and staff of the estates that would improve the competitiveness of the sector and working conditions of staff; (iii) Achieve differentiation, and increase the competitiveness of the Ecuadorian mango in destination markets through the implementation of an export brand, identifying the product by its origin and quality;
(iv) Reduce the negative impact to the environment and the people in the mango is cultivated through the implementation of practices friendly and respectful of the environment that will enable the sustainability of crops ensuring jobs for the staff who depend on mangoes for their livelihood.
