BR-T1477 : Structuring an Innovative Handicraft Value Chain for the Migrant Warao´s Indigenous Population

Project Status: Implementation

The main goal of the project is not to create a new chain from scratch, as it already exists; but, to better structure and bringin novation to the existing value chain so that it can scale sufficiently to effectively change Warao indigenous refugee families' lives in Brazil. The establishment of a Waraos artisans association/startup is the first step towards the success ofthe handicraft value chain. Once created, this will be the base from which the new chain will be structured, focused on repairing its most fragile links. The project, through the startup, will have the following goals: 1. organizing and providing social cohesion of Waraos artisans by supporting the collective production organization; 2. ensuring that artisans have timely and regular access to raw materials in adequate quantity and quality; 3. providing capacity building sessions for theartisans, in order to improve the production quality and their financial, entrepreneurial and social skills; 4. structuring abusiness model; and 5. seeking partnerships to increase the access to national and international markets through digital platforms.
