Strengthening the health care model for maternal and neonatal health in Bolivian Amazon

This project will seek to strengthen the maternal and neonatal health care model and will focus on the Amazon region, especially the Bolivian lowlands, where 34 indigenous peoples live, including the Guaraní, Chiquitano, and Moxeño, among others. The following components are planned: (i) Detailed analysis of the evolution and current status of maternal and neonatal health indicators by department and municipality in the Amazon region; (ii) Diagnostic of public service supply and configuration of care networks; (iii) Development of a culturally adapted demand-side strengthening proposal; and (iv) Human resource training in intercultural health to improve the quality of care. Outputs: Study of the main access barriers due to the care model (geographical and cultural); review and, if necessary, reconfiguration of prioritized health networks; design of a model and support for the implementation of a continuous quality improvement program that considers intercultural aspects; training for HR in aspects of interculturality and addressing SSR with a gender perspective.
