Based on the successful experience of the Revitalization and Urban Development Program (PRU) of the Municipal Government of La Paz (GMLP), funded by the Bank (Loan 1557/SF-BO, US$28.5 million IDB), the GMLP, through the National Government, has requested a new operation to the Bank in order to continue with the revitalization process of the city of La Paz (PRU II). To date, the Bank is close to finishing the selection and hiring process of the international consulting firm responsible for preparing the Proposal for Operation Development (POD) document for the PRU II, which will be financed through a Non Reimbursable Technical Cooperation ATN/FG-11693-BO. In this context, in view of the forthcoming preparation of the Program¿s second phase (PRU II), it is vital to enrich the experience of key technical staff of the GMLP, specifically linked to the PRU, with the successful experience of the Historic Center Rehabilitation Program of Quito, Ecuador. The Quito Program, which started in 2005 and receives Bank financing through Loan 1630/OC-EC, aims at contributing to the development of the economic, social, and cultural potential of the Historic Center of Quito through interventions that foster basic infrastructure, economic sustainability and development, and institutional strengthening. This CT INTRA will finance airplane tickets and related expenses of three key technical members of the GMLP to visit the Quito Program in Ecuador.
