Strengthening the National Response to HIV/AIDS in Belize
The proposed TC will support the analytical development of roles and responsibilities of the NAC that are crucial to the implementation of the National AIDS Plan (2006-11) to combat HIV/AIDS in Belize. The outputs should include a strengthened NAC Secretariat through the provision of technical support, and a more coherent response from the NAC members. The longer term impact should improve the physical and social condition of people living with AIDS and their families, and should reduce the levels of social exclusion they face due to current levels of stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS. In addition, the outcomes should facilitate a more coherent response from the international donor community, helping them to harmonise their procedures and requirements to minimise transaction costs to the NAC recipients, avoid divisive competitiveness between recipients and minimise duplication.
