Energy Storage and Capacity Strengthening Program

The general objective of the loan is to contribute to Barbados' energy security by supporting the Barbados National Energy Company Limited (BNECL) to reduce its high dependence on fossil fuels. The specific objectives are: (i) to increase Barbados' power grid's capacity to absorb Renewable Energy (RE) by investing in energy storage; (ii) to support the increase of Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) systems connections; and (iii) to strengthen BNECL's capacities to manage and integrate new energy technologies.
