President Elect of Mexico will be awarded the international democracy madal by The Center for Democracy

The Inter-American Development Bank will host an award ceremony on August 24 in which Vicente Fox Quesada, president-elect of Mexico, will be given the Year 2000 International Democracy Medal by The Center for Democracy.

The award is presented to national leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the development of democratic institutions in their respective countries.

The Center for Democracy, a non-profit organization founded in 1985 for the promotion of democratic institutions, said it is especially proud to award this year's medal to Vicente Fox Quesada and, through him, to the citizens of Mexico.
The president of the IDB, Enrique V. Iglesias, and other senior IDB officials will be present at the ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Andres Bello Auditorium, in the IDB headquarters building, 1300 New York Ave, N.W., ninth floor.
