The period for proposing candidates for the position of President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) closed on Thursday, September 10, 2020.
The Board of Governors received nominations from the United States, El Salvador, Guyana, Haiti, Israel and Paraguay for a single candidate: Mauricio J. Claver-Carone, currently Deputy Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs, U.S. National Security Council.
As previously announced, the election will take place at a virtual meeting of the Board scheduled for September 12-13, 2020.

The mandate of the current IDB President, Luis Alberto Moreno, expires on September 30, 2020.
