IDB Announces Vacancy for President and Dates for Next Annual Meeting

  • Election of president will take place on September 12 and 13, 2020; member countries can propose candidates starting today
  • 2021 Annual Meeting will be held on March 17-21 in Barranquilla, Colombia

The Office of the Secretary of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has notified the Bank’s Governors that the process of proposing candidates to be the organization’s next president is now open.

IDB Governors can propose candidates within the next 45 days.

The Bank's Board of Executive Directors announced that the election will take place at a virtual meeting of the IDB Governors on September 12-13, 2020.

In addition, the IDB’s Governors reported that the annual meeting of the Boards of Governors of the IDB and IDB Invest has been rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The meeting will be held on March 17-21, 2021, in Barranquilla, Colombia.

It had been announced previously that the meeting would take place in Barranquilla in the first half of September 2020, on a date to coincide with the election of the IDB president.
