IDB launches inaugural Colombian Domestic Bond

Washington, D.C. – The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB or IADB), rated Aaa/AAA (Moody’s/S&P), priced a new COP100,000 million 5-year fixed rate Colombian domestic bond.

The COP100,000 million issue (equivalent to approximately US$29 million) priced on November 25 and was structured by Credicorp Capital Colombia. The issue was priced at 100 percent (plus on day of accrued interest).

The proceeds will be directed to support projects in Colombia. The 5-years note pays an annual coupon of 5.45%, matures on 25 November 2024 and priced with a spread of 30bps below the interpolated Títulos de Tesorería (TES) as of the issue date. This transaction marks IDB’s inaugural domestic issuance in Colombia listed on the Bolsa de Valores de Colombia (BVC), utilized a domestic paying agent the Depósito Centralizado de Valores de Colombia (“Deceval”) and governed under Colombian law. The bonds were sold to domestic Asset Managers and Insurance Companies. The bonds were issued under the IDB’s Global Debt Program.

“The IDB is pleased to have successfully issued its first ever domestic Colombian Peso denominated bond.  The deal was met with strong demand and the oversubscription allowed us to obtain better than expected pricing. This issuance allowed us to achieve our objectives of diversifying the investor base and accessing new markets.” said Laura Fan, Head of Funding at the IDB.

“Credicorp Capital was proud to support the Inter-American Development Bank’s first Bond offering in Colombia. This issuance represents an important step towards the deepening of the Colombian capital market and an opportunity for local investors to diversify their portfolios by investing in a AAA rated issuer through the local market. We congratulate the IDB team on a successful arrival to the Colombian market and expect the Colombian market to continue being a competitive alternative for IDB to support its fund needs in the future," said Hugo Horta, Regional Corporate Finance’s Head of Credicorp Capital.

The new issue carries an annual coupon of 5.45% and will mature on November 25, 2024. It was priced with spread of 30bps below the interpolated Títulos de Tesorería (TES).
