IDB Group Organizes Inaugural BIDAcademy Knowledge Week

International experts will share groundbreaking knowledge on issues shaping the future of the region.

The IDB Group is launching the first BIDAcademy Knowledge Week, where regional and international experts will share cutting-edge knowledge about development issues key to the future of the region.

From June 27 to July 1, the event will showcase, celebrate and share the knowledge the IDB Group produces for Latin America, the Caribbean and the world.

Knowledge Week is open to the public as a unique space for learning and deepening expertise on topics like e-government, regional integration, gender and diversity, climate change and sustainability, and the catalyzing potential of the private sector.

The week will feature more than 45 speakers, including leaders from academia, think tanks and the public and private sectors. Among them are Michael Kaufman, co-founder of the White Ribbon Campaign, a movement to involve men in core solutions against gender violence. Other speakers are Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, and the producers of the Disney film Encanto, who will share about the importance of value chains in creative industries.

Approximately 25 event sessions will be available for streaming free of charge in Spanish, Portuguese, English, and French. Knowledge Week will also feature in-person technical sessions at universities in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia that will be streamed for the whole region.

“Now more than ever, the skills and actionable knowledge the IDB Group produces and shares will play a decisive role in upcoming decades. BIDAcademy aspires to be the platform that spreads and raises the profile of knowledge about how to solve our region’s development problems,” said Jessica Bedoya, IDB Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Officer.

Young people will play a central role in Knowledge Week and can take advantage of a career fair where distinguished experts will share advice for successfully entering an evolving and increasingly competitive job market.
