IDB Coordinates Focus on the Americas at World Water Week 2023

Leading global event on water and sanitation to explore the potential of innovation to tackle water and sanitation challenges.

Latin America and the Caribbean, like the rest of the world, must embrace innovation to enhance water-related solutions for societies and economies. This is the central theme of the Focus on the Americas sessions at World Water Week (WWW) 2023, the preeminent international platform for discussions within the water and sanitation sector.

Hosted annually by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), WWW 2023 will provide valuable insights and bring together global experts to tackle water and sanitation challenges, under the theme: Seeds of Change: Innovative Solutions for a Water-wise world. The conference which will take place from August 20th to the 24th, 2023; both online and at the Waterfront Congress Center in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Focus on the Americas program will unite experts from government agencies, public utilities, academia, private sector, and international organizations to guide efforts towards water-conscious solutions and transformative change. Our sessions are designed to inspire and promote the adoption of innovative measures to water and sanitation services. We will delve into success stories, innovative methodologies, tools, and strategies that foster thriving ecosystems and successful platforms.

The sessions "Innovation for equal and inclusive water and sanitation services" for example, will focus on how to close the disparity in access to water and sanitation services. Through the exploration of cutting-edge solutions, the aim will be discuss possible solutions to ensure an equitable and fair distribution of these resources, promoting a transformative impact in marginalized communities.

The hybrid online/in-person program includes 11 sessions, showcases, seminars and talk shows, among other activities, on topics such as innovative water sanitation and hygiene programs in Latin America, water financing, innovation for equal and inclusive water and sanitation services, and water effective governance.

Focus on the Americas will feature high-profile experts with extensive experience in water and sanitation, with the goal of fostering dialogue among stakeholders from different sub-regions and sectors.
