IDB announces changes in lending rates for first half of 2000

The Inter-American Development Bank today announced changes in its lending rates on the convertible-currency portion of loans from ordinary capital for the first semester of the year 2000.

For outstanding balances of currency-pool adjustable rate loans approved after Jan. 1, 1990, the annual lending rate is 6.38 percent for the first semester of 2000 compared with 6.44 percent in the second semester of 1999.

The lending rate applicable to outstanding balances of adjustable rate loans in U.S. dollars from the single currency facility (SCF) is 6.77 percent in the first semester of 2000 compared with 6.84 percent for the second semester of 1999.

The Euro SCF rate for the first semester of 2000 is 5.38 percent compared with 4.99 percent in the second semester of 1999.

The rate for SCF loans in Japanese yen for the first semester of 2000 is 2.30 percent, compared with 2.04 percent in the second semester of 1999.

The new SCF rate for loans in Swiss francs is 3.88 percent, compared with 3.75 percent in the second semester of 1999.

The full credit fee of 0.75 percent will be charged on all signed undisbursed loans during the first semester of 2000, and the full inspection fee of 1 percent will also be charged. The full credit fee and the full inspection fee were also charged during the second semester of 1999.
