Cultural Center of Inter-American Development Bank announces grants for cultural development projects

 

The Cultural Center of the Inter-American Development Bank today announced the selection of 46 small-scale cultural development projects in 23 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean that will receive IDB grants ranging from $3,000 to $10,000.

The financing promotes cultural development in communities by financing innovative projects for technical training, restoring traditions, preserving cultural heritage and educating youth.

The projects were chosen by the Selection Committee of the Cultural Center from a pool of 472 proposals gathered and screened by the IDB’s 26 country offices.

The projects were evaluated for their viability, educational scope, effective use of resources, ability to mobilize additional sources of financing and long-term impact on a significant part of the community.

The Cultural Center and the country offices work together on supervising, monitoring and guiding the institutions responsible for the projects in order to achieve their optimum development.  The following is a list – by country – of the projects and the names of institutions receiving financial support in 2004:
