Community Volunteer Fair at IDB Headquarters on Feb. 15

The IDB-DC Solidarity Program of the Inter-American Development Bank will sponsor a community volunteer fair at its headquarters on Feb 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

More than 28 community-based organizations working with the Hispanic and Caribbean communities of Washington, D.C., will share their activities.

The organizations will present their needs with the aim of attracting new volunteers among the Bank’s staffers and their families, retirees and other interested public.

During the fair, the participants will receive information about the diverse opportunities available to render service to the community. There will be prizes, and a Latin jazz band from the Bell Multicultural High School will perform.

IDB President Enrique V. Iglesias will officially open the fair at noon in the atrium of the Bank, 1300 New York Ave., N.W.

The IDB-DC Solidarity Program was created in 1998 to build strategic partnerships with local organizations to promote community-based development initiatives aimed at the Hispanic and Caribbean population of Washington, D.C., with emphasis on education, health and economic development.

The program supports community-based organizations through grants, volunteers and technical assistance.
