Argentine trade secretary Martin Redrado to speak at IDB on June 7

Argentina’s Secretary for Trade and International Economic Relations, Martín Redrado, will be the keynote speaker at a Monday, June 7 presentation at the Inter-American Development Bank on Latin American trade policy.

At the event, which is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. in the 9th floor Breakout Room of the IDB’s main building (1300 New York Ave, NW), Redrado and Hernán Lacunza, director of the Argentine Foreign Ministry’s Center for International Economy, will discuss their paper A New Approach to Trade Development in Latin America.

The paper outlines the elements of a trade policy designed to boost Latin American exports on a sustainable basis, in a context of low to moderate economic growth and burdensome external debt levels. The model includes a strategy to assess potential effects of trade concessions on output, exports, employment and wages in an economy as a whole and in its different sectors.
