ALIDE will evaluate the response of Latin American Development Banks to COVID-19

IDB, BDMG and IDFC in conjunction with ALIDE will evaluate the performance in mitigating the pandemic and the path to economic recovery in Latin America and the Caribbean

The ALIDE General Assembly will bring the Development Bank System of Latin America and the Caribbean to evaluate in a digital meeting the performance in mitigating the COVID-19 crisis and the path to economic recovery. High level representatives from the financial institutions will discuss the various experiences faced during the pandemic.

On this occasion, the meeting will be held on October 7, 9, 13 and 15 and will consist of a series of digital events. Within the framework of the General Assembly, the position of the Latin American Development Bank System in the international debate on the COVID-19 crisis will be established. In this way, the meeting is framed in the context of Finance in Common, the world summit on development finance to be held in November. 

As an instrument of public policy for governments, the Development Bank System faces the challenge of mitigating the damage caused by the crisis in the productive and social sectors. But also, the opportunity to establish a strategic response that directs financing towards a new development cycle, with an emphasis on sustainable and inclusive growth.

In this context, the General Assembly aims to extract lessons from the banks to achieve the new development cycle. It is co-organized by ALIDE with renowned international financing entities such as the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Development Finance Club (IDFC) and the Minas Gerais Development Bank (BDMG) of Brazil.

As is recognized, the ALIDE General Assembly is the annual summit of the Development Bank System of Latin America and the Caribbean. It is a high-level meeting where the main representatives of the sector discuss financing for development, establish cooperative relations and consensus. It is held annually with the participation of more than 300 representatives of the sector.
