The Long-Term Care Policy Network in Latin America and the Caribbean (RedCUIDAR+) was launched in August 2020 to support Latin American and Caribbean countries’ efforts and increase their institutional and technical capacity in the area of long-term care services. The initiative is sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank, the European Union's Programme EUROsociAL+, and the French Development Agency.
The main objective of the Network is to foster and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences among participating members, and to promote collaboration opportunities among the policymakers who shape long-term care policies in Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) and policy experts in the field. In this way, the Network has helped countries in the region develop their institutional and technical capacity to implement long-term care services and has helped promote good practices in this area.
The Long-Term Care Policy Network in Latin America and the Caribbean has over 250 members from 25 countries, including several government ministries.
The Network has encouraged active regional participation in discussions on key aspects of long-term care. It has invited international and regional experts in the field to participate in meetings and webinars where individuals from various countries in the region exchange their experiences. The Network also helps member countries conduct research and implement pilot initiatives.
