Tools for Disaster Risk Management

Is a digital tool developed to further the understanding of disaster risk governance by enabling continuous monitoring and assessment of indicators that measure disaster risk and its management at the national level over time. RiskMonitor provides results for the iGOPP (Index fo Governance and Public Policy in DRM) for the IDB’s 26 borrowing member countries.

Connects users with tools for assessing hazards, exposure, vulnerability, and impacts to support disaster risk evaluation and cost-benefit analysis. Its goal is to provide an integrated, user-friendly system to analyze disaster risk, strengthen country capacities to model and apply risk metrics, and support decision-making through validated data and tools. The platform also leverages probabilistic risk analyses and damage/loss assessments developed across the region.

Is a spatial analysis platform used by environmental and social specialists to assess the exposure of investment projects to natural hazards. It enables users to visualize geographic risk data and generate tailored reports that highlight the most relevant hazards in a given region. This information supports the design of risk management strategies for infrastructure projects, helping teams integrate resilience into planning and execution.

Is a simulation tool that supports water resources management and planning in LAC, including HydroBID Alloc, based on MODSIM, which allows planning water resource distribution among different users in a basin (human, agricultural, energy and environmental consumption) and water infrastructure management (reservoirs, water diversions, treatment plants). HydroBID Flood is a simulation tool for flood mitigation, river protection, water quality, design and monitoring of urban drainage systems and support for the evaluation and design of infrastructure.

Is a free tool initiated by the IDB as part of its Amazonia Forever program to help all those involved in the development and conservation of the Amazon to better understand this immense and complex territory. Users can create customized reports focused on areas of interest, with actionable insights and data visualizations generated instantly from a comprehensive territorial knowledge base.

Dashboard is an interactive platform that presents the model’s results at regional and country levels. It allows users to explore overall and dimension-specific performance of social protection systems, providing a comprehensive view of their capacity to respond to shocks and strengthen resilience to emerging risks.
