Martin Hessel is an economist with 20 years of experience in international development policy and finance. Prior to joining the IDB Group, Mr. Hessel held several field postings in Honduras, Guatemala, and Mozambique for the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and the World Bank, with a strong focus on delivering development projects to reduce poverty, improve women’s rights, strengthen integrity, and combat climate change.  Mr. Hessel holds an MsC in Economics from the University of Lund, Sweden and an MsC in Public Policy from the University of London, UK.
