
Gabriel Yorio González serves as Vice President for Finance and Administration. Before joining the IDB, he served as Vice Minister of Finance at Mexico’s Ministry of Finance, where he led the country’s economic policy, fiscal policy, and public-debt management, ensuring its sustainability through innovative financing mechanisms. He also coordinated economic planning and designed public policies to strengthen macroeconomic stability and financial resilience.
In the regulatory sphere, he spearheaded the modernization of Mexico’s Securities Market Law, enhancing access to financing and increasing the competitiveness of the financial sector. Additionally, he played a key role in sustainable-finance initiatives, leading the development of Mexico’s sustainable taxonomy and promoting green financial instruments. He was also instrumental in pension reform and the reform of Mexico’s income stabilization policy, ensuring long-term economic resilience.
Committed to financial inclusion, Yorio González designed and implemented policies to bridge the gender gap in access to credit and investment, fostering a more equitable financial system. His expertise in engaging with investors and credit-rating agencies played a crucial role in strengthening Mexico’s financial standing.
Prior to his role at the Ministry of Finance, he worked at the World Bank, contributing to projects in various regions. He also held positions at Mexico’s National Bank for Infrastructure and Public Services, where he specialized in structured financing and project finance, and at the Government of Mexico City, where he served as Debt Manager.
Yorio González holds a master’s degree in policy management from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in economics from El Colegio de México.
