Beatriz López-Galvis
General Manager, Human Resources Department

Beatriz López-Galvis, a dual USA and Colombian national, joined the IDB as General Manager of the Human Resources Department on April 16, 2023. Beatriz brings a distinguished career leading strategic human resources, culture, and transformation processes for over 25 years.

Over a highly international career, Beatriz has worked extensively throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Beginning in 1999, she joined Johnson & Johnson (J&J), serving as HR Manager Northern Region for Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela for the Medical Devices Group. She was subsequently promoted to HR Manager for Latin America, held the position of Global Director of HR for the J&J cardiology subsidiary Cordis, and was then appointed Vice President of HR for the Pharmaceutical Group (Janssen) Latin America. From 2013 to 2019 she was the Executive Vice President and Worldwide CHRO for the J&J spin-off Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, where she led the design of the people strategy and the implementation of global talent and organizational development processes and programs, diversity and inclusion, compensation, and capacity building and leadership for 5,000 employees in over 50 countries. Beatriz worked in consulting from 2020 up until her appointment at the Bank, advising companies on the development of their human capital practices, succession planning, institutional engagement, as well as implementing executive coaching services.

Beatriz holds a Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from New York University (NYU) and is a certified coach.
