With a history of results dating to 1959, we work to improve the quality of life of millions of people in our 26 borrowing countries. We have 48 member countries.
We provide financial and technical support to national and sub-national governments and other entities in the region and conduct cutting-edge research. That is how we drive progress in health, education, infrastructure, climate action and diversity, among other fundamental issues, to reduce poverty and improve lives in our region.

Our team is active on four continents. Our headquarters is located in Washington, D.C., our country offices in our 26 borrowing member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, and our regional offices in Asia and Europe
The year featured 92 new sovereign-guaranteed loan projects, with a portfolio of 616 such projects in execution.
Our member countries include 26 borrowing members in Latin America and the Caribbean and 22 non-borrowing members in Asia, Europe, and North America.
The IDB’s clients include national, sub-national, and municipal governments, NGOs, and other partners. IDB Invest and IDB Lab, entities of the IDB Group, also focus on clients from the private sector and entrepreneurs in the region, respectively.
